Script Contest

The Script Contest is an opportunity to win creative partnership with Timur Bekmambetov's Bazelevs.

The contest is held at the Second Annual Astana Action International Film Festival. Bekmambetov's goal is to find and train the best, most talented and dedicated filmmakers and screenwriters.

Taking part in the contest is simple. Applicants should submit a document in PDF, not exceeding 2 pages, which should specify:

- The plan of action-movie including an introduction and summary of plot (first page);

- Biography of the film author, including contact information (second page).

Readiness of the full script is required for all applications.

From the 1stthrough the 5th of July 2011, during the Second Annual Astana International Action Film Festival, the five best projects in the action genre will be awarded and shown in theatres.

The winner will receive 10,000 USD and the possibility of developing the project together with the production company of Timur Bekmambetov.

In addition to screenwriters from Kazakhstan, the competition will include participants from other countries. One of the awards will go to the winner from Kazakhstan, the other 4 finalists will be selected from among international applications.

The deadline for delivery of scripts for Kazakhstan participants is May 1, for participants from other countries the deadline is April 15.

The competition in Kazakhstan is held together with the Alem program intended to support young talents www.alemsaby.kz

The winner of the last year's competition was young American screenwriter Brian Miller with the script of his film Apollo 18. The film will premiere in 2011!
