July 1, 2010 the Astana International Action Film Festival came to an end.

The first event was the Festival press conference with the organizers on the June 27, 2010 in the Kazakhstan conference hall. Journalists were able to ask their questions of the Film Festival President, the famous director and producer Timur Bekmambetov, co-organizer of the Film Festival Mike Simpson of the William Morris Agency, and festival director Irene Vanidovskoy. The press conference was attended by Larissa Kokovinets, director of the PR-department of Kazkommertsbank, a general partner of the festival.

Gareth Edwards, Press release 01.07.2010

     1st of July at 10.00 within the framework of the First International action film festival ASTANA in the Central concert hall “Kazakhstan” will be held a press conference with a British director Gareth Edwards. He will present his last work – a film Monsters.

      The film shows the events happened six years after the NASA satellite fell somewhere in Central America turning almost the half of Mexico into a quarantine zone. The plot of the story is about an American journalist, who agreed to escort a tourist through the infected zone to the safe boundaries of the USA.

Dolph Lundgren, Press release 30.06.2010

      30th of June at 12.00 in the limits of the First International action film Festival ASTANA in Central concert Hall “Kazakhstan” will be held a press conference with actor and director Dolph Lundgren.

      Action film star Dolph Lundgren dreamt to become a Chemical Engineer in his childhood. That is why after school Hans (his real name) enters  the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. He has a master's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Sydney. He was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1983, but he quit after two weeks to pursue acting and PhD was left behind making his childhood dream never come true.

Hilary Ann Swank, Press release 29.06.2010

      29th of June at 10.00 within the framework of the First International action film festival ASTANA in the Central concert hall “Kazakhstan” will be held a press conference with American actress Hilary Ann Swank, who has won Oscar twice already.

      When Swank was nine years old, she made her first appearance on stage, starring in The Jungle Book. She became involved in school and community theater programs. Her mother, supportive of her daughter's desire to act, moved to Los Angeles where Hilary started acting professionally. Before getting her first significant roles she appears in television programs. Swank's first leading film role was in The Next Karate Kid (1994), which successfully utilized her gymnastic background. It took four years for Hilary to be noticed in September 1997, when Swank was cast as single mother Carly Reynolds on Beverly Hills, 90210.

Yuen Woo-ping, Press release 29.06.2010

     29th of June at 15.30 within the framework of the First International action Film Festival ASTANA in the Central Concert hall “Kazakhstan” will be held a press conference with a Chinese director, the martial arts choreographer in Matrix Yuen Woo-ping. Yuen Woo-ping is a Chinese director, actor, script writer, producer, martial arts choreographer.
 
     Character building and profession choice were highly influenced by his father Yuen Siu-tien, a renowned martial arts film actor. His father was the one to train him kung fu and bring Yuen to Chinese School of Opera where a future director and The Matrix martial arts choreographer studied alongside Jackie Chan under the mentoring of Y. Tzinyuan. Owing to his father Woo-Ping he played a role in Wong Fei Hung, making it his first debut in cinema.
