      New Annual International Film Festival of Action Movies “ASTANA” will take place in capital of Kazakhstan, Astana from June 27, 2010 to July 1, 2010.

      This is joint project of companies "Bazelevs” and Akimat of Astana.

      Idea of arrangement was born when Timur Bekmambetov (“Bazelevs”) and producer Mike Simpson (William Morris Endeavor Entertainment, USA) visited the capital of Kazakhstan and it can be realized thanks to support of Akim of Astana Imangali Tasmagambetov.

      Bazelevs Company was established in 1991 by the Director and Producer Timur Bekmambetov. The company’s activity is to produce advertising clips and Films. The most famous block busters produced are  - “Night watch: Nochnoi Dozor”, “Day watch: Dnevnoi Dozor”, “The Irony of fate. Continuation” (Ironiya sudby. Prodolzhenie), “Most Wanted”, “Chernaya Molniya”.

      Specialization: full cycle of film production – producing, attraction of the best home and foreign specialists, location search for shootings, casting, technical assistance and supply of the shootings in Russia and abroad, full line of post production services of any difficulty: montage, computer graphics and animation, special effects for films and video clips.

     27th of June 2010 at 10.00 in a big conference hall of Central concert hall “Kazakhstan” a press conference will be held by organizers of International film festival of action movies “ASTANA”. 

     You can put your questions to a President of film festival, famous director and producer Timur Bekmambetov, co-author of festival idea, William Morris Agency WME agency producer Mike Simpson and general director of film festival Iren Vanidovskaya.  PR Department Director of JSC “Kazkommerzbank” Larisa Kokovinets will also take part in the conference. JSC “Kazkommerzbank” is a general partner of the festival.

     On the eve of Kazakhstan Capital’s birthday the organizers will present a real holiday of film, which will gather in the heart of the Republic the stars of world cinema, famous actors, directors, figures of culture and art, producers, and potential investors.
International film festival of action movies “ASTANA” is thought to be an annual holiday. This year the festival is held for the first time that is why the participation of jury is not planned. This is a perfect opportunity to demonstrate the guests of the Festival dynamically developing capital of Kazakhstan, at the same time presenting the best action films which are the most demanded these days. Besides, Film Festival will be a good chance for communication, investor search and perspective partners in co-production and distributing market of Kazakhstani films outside Kazakhstan.   

     Official program of Festival consists of out-of-competition demonstration of about 20 full-length films of USA, European countries, Asia and CIS. During these five days people will have a unique chance to watch popular movies, visit film demonstrations before premieres of new films of the year.

     In the framework of the Festival will be held a Round table with the participation of Hollywood and Asian producers (Kazakhstan, South Korea, China). The main issue of that round table is going to be a question of joint film projects initiation.

      28th of June at 12.00 within the framework of the First International action film festival ASTANA in the Central concert hall “Kazakhstan” will be held a press conference of Harvey Weinstein dedicated to a new film “Shanghai”.

      Harvey Weinstein began his career as a producer right after the graduation from the University. Weinstein, along with his brother Bob Weinstein, and Corky Burger independently produced rock concerts as Harvey & Corky Productions through most of the 1970s. Both Weinstein brothers had grown up with a passion for movies and they nurtured a desire to enter the film industry. . In the late 1970s, the brothers created a small independent film distribution company called Miramax, named after their parents - Miriam and Max. The company's first releases were primarily music-oriented concert films such as Paul McCartney's Rockshow.

     29th of June at 15.30 within the framework of the First International action Film Festival ASTANA in the Central Concert hall “Kazakhstan” will be held a press conference with a Chinese director, the martial arts choreographer in Matrix Yuen Woo-ping. Yuen Woo-ping is a Chinese director, actor, script writer, producer, martial arts choreographer.
 
     Character building and profession choice were highly influenced by his father Yuen Siu-tien, a renowned martial arts film actor. His father was the one to train him kung fu and bring Yuen to Chinese School of Opera where a future director and The Matrix martial arts choreographer studied alongside Jackie Chan under the mentoring of Y. Tzinyuan. Owing to his father Woo-Ping he played a role in Wong Fei Hung, making it his first debut in cinema.

      30th of June at 12.00 in the limits of the First International action film Festival ASTANA in Central concert Hall “Kazakhstan” will be held a press conference with actor and director Dolph Lundgren.

      Action film star Dolph Lundgren dreamt to become a Chemical Engineer in his childhood. That is why after school Hans (his real name) enters  the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. He has a master's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Sydney. He was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1983, but he quit after two weeks to pursue acting and PhD was left behind making his childhood dream never come true.

      29th of June at 10.00 within the framework of the First International action film festival ASTANA in the Central concert hall “Kazakhstan” will be held a press conference with American actress Hilary Ann Swank, who has won Oscar twice already.

      When Swank was nine years old, she made her first appearance on stage, starring in The Jungle Book. She became involved in school and community theater programs. Her mother, supportive of her daughter's desire to act, moved to Los Angeles where Hilary started acting professionally. Before getting her first significant roles she appears in television programs. Swank's first leading film role was in The Next Karate Kid (1994), which successfully utilized her gymnastic background. It took four years for Hilary to be noticed in September 1997, when Swank was cast as single mother Carly Reynolds on Beverly Hills, 90210.
